Since its start in March 2011, the war in Syria has killed 400,000 people and displaced more than 11 million from their homes. According to figures from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the war has caused more than 5 million people to migrate, one of the largest exoduses in recent history.
